Sooooo, this is kindof cool…
NewReleaseTuesday.com, has announced its production of an all-new awards event, the WE LOVE Christian Music Awards.
This 1st Annual awards show will take place in late January 2013. Described as “an awards show for the digital age,” the We Love Christian Music Awards will give honors in 25 categories celebrating the best of the 2012 year. The show will be broadcast live online and will feature some of the biggest names in Christian music, audience participation, and other surprises.
While traditional awards will include Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Group of the Year, innovative new genre-based awards will take a different tone with categories including The Rockfist (best rock/alternative group), The BPM (best electronic/dance group) and The Hook (best pop artist/group).
A slate of innovative new We Love award categories will include the Comeback Award for artists who have returned after 5+ years off the radar, the Crossover Award for Christian artists making a mainstream impact and the Groundbreaker Award for artists who have forged new ground in Christian music.
The criteria for song and album nominations are simple; the entries must have been released in the calendar year 2012. NRT staff and a committee of Christian music industry professionals will announce final nominations Friday, November 30, and public voting for the winners will take place from that date until January 14 at NewReleaseTuesday.com. One lucky voter will win an iPad Mini and five lucky voters will win a $25 iTunes or Amazon gift card.
Winners will be selected based on a combination formula of fan votes and votes by the awards committee. In addition to the five nominees, fans will be asked to write in a runner-up winner in each category. A special We Love award will be designed and shipped to each winner in every category.
The We Love Christian Music Awards is sponsored by Grand Canyon University, a private Christian university with a growing campus in Phoenix, AZ and a wide array of online programs for working adults. The University says the partnership was a natural fit.
